Nick & Johnny Small Batch Licorice Slim White portion snus is a fantastic new addition to the line. It's so good in fact, I am considering forgiving them for discontinuing Nick & Johnny Black...
Greetings Snus Lovers!
It's great to finally be back at the Snustopian Embassy here in the SnusCentral bunker. Although it took some time and a bit of bribery before Moe remembered where he'd put the keys, I'm really looking forward to reviewing all the new Swedish snus brands that have been released during my hiatus.
The first set of snus brands we'll be taking a look at arrived at the embassy by carrier UNZ meaning that when Moe finally gave me the keys, he handed me a box with a message scribbled on it saying "First". When I opened the mystery box, a snus brand I've never seen before greeted me, or so I thought. That snus brand is General G.3 Extra Strong Slim White portion snus. So, let's dive right into the review and you'll see what I mean by "or so I thought"...
UPDATE 8 Dec 14: Swedish Match announced today that Göteborgs Rapé Hjortron White Portion Snus will be returning and Back to Stay in January, 2015!
Check the Goteborgs Rapé Product Page at the SnusCentral.com Snus Shop for GR' Hjortron between Week 2 and Week 4, 2015 to purchase.
Yes, I said Göteborgs Rapé, I will wait while you get over the giggles about doing bad things to a poor defenseless goat which are illegal in most states . All better now? Good.
[EDITOR’s NOTE: the Rapé in Goteborgs Rapé is pronounced “ra-PAY”….a variation of the French word râpé, meaning shredded. Leave it to the stupid French to make shredding tobacco sound so wrong. I’ve also heard it pronounced “RA-pee”. I use the latter since I hate everything tainted by France. Now back to Mick!]As you all know, at least those of you that have read my ramblings before, I am a fan of many of Swedish Match snus. I have visited their factories, broke bread with them, count some of their current and former employees as friends (at least by the Facebook definition of friend).
When I first heard about General Variation last fall, I got excited. Schoolgirl new crush excited. Finally two new Swedish Match offerings that didn’t involve fruity overly done flavors or mint. Bring ‘em on.
After what seemed an inordinately long wait I got a few cans of each in January. After using both in my usual testing ordeal I figured now was a good time to share my thoughts. I also have procrastinated for a while knowing that Swedish Match might not like what I have to say.
I've been asked why I'm so obsessed with Captain Yankee; this is the third article I've written about it and the official release date isn't until next week.
In large part, my fascination has to do with the strong American-style branding designed for the Norwegian market and the somewhat unimaginable flavor profile.
When we published the second article; Captain Yankee Xtra Strong Americana Portion Snus: the new Nick and Johnny snus for Norway, the only flavor description we could squeeze out of Swedish Match was "a new extreme snus inspired by American flavors with a distinct taste of cherry, wintergreen and cinnamon."
I love Odens Snus. Unfortunately GN Tobacco's other snus attempts have left me at best ambivalent, at worst, disgusted.
I was very hesitant to try Olde Ving. Part of this was because of the name. GNT used to call this snus brand Olde Viking; that is until the company which actually owned the Olde Viking brand name cried foul.
In a way, the brand name change was a good thing. Olde Viking was a particularly bad snus best known for its hockey puck sized cans.
I think they could have put a little more thought into the re-branding.... Olde Ving? Who or what is Ving?
For some odd reason I can't assimilate"Ving". My brain changes the letters and I find it vaguely dirty and possibly completely off putting. I really sort of, kinda wanted to try it, but was to scared to actually spend money buying some.
For those of you who don't know me that well, I am a big Star Wars fanatic.( I really like Star Trek also, but don't hold that against me.)
During the Big 2013 Snus Summit I had the pleasure of trying what I believe would be Yoda's snus. He is little, strong and green. Even his light saber is green. I doubt he is much of a health nut, living for many years on a swamp planet, eating whatever the swamp coughed up.
Hello, right, now the pleasantries are over. I want to introduce myself. I’m Adam, 33 and from the UK, and I’m a snuser, a British one none the less. Now I know we may be about as hard to find as Lucky Strike snus in the US but we do exist.
Skruf Snus AB is releasing three new snuses under their new nord66° (pronounced Nord 66 degrees) by skruf brand. I've been using all 3 for the past couple of weeks and I am impressed!
Ah, wintertime in Snustopia! It has to be one of my most favorite times to be here with its snow covered trees and rooftops that look like they’ve been draped with fluffy white cotton blankets! Yes folks, today’s review comes to you from the capitol city of Snustopia, Skruf Square which is why I haven’t written a review in a while.
Larry had graciously allowed me to take a sabbatical back to my homeland for some much needed R&R but as I sit here in my office looking out at the freshly fallen snow inspired me to do a review on a new snus made by V2 Tobacco, Thunder White Frosted Ultra Strong (RAW) portion snus.
Now, you’re probably asking yourselves “Why would looking at snow inspire you to write a review on a strong snus brand? You really did need some R&R Snus Guy!”
I know every other blogger in Snusland is covering this one as well, and even though my palate isn't as refined as others ( or at least I can’t express it as well) I thought I’d add my thoughts on General Classic White Mint Snus as well.....
As I sit here in my lavishly decorated office here in the SnusCentral bunker, I’m reminded of that package I received not two weeks ago, as well as the incident that occurred back then, that had all four new Thunder White products that were released by V2 Tobacco sitting in front of me.
I was anxious to try and review all four them right then and there, followed by a complicated review which would include all of them. I thought about it for a while and figured it would really be unfair to not only you guys but to V2 as well.
After two weeks considering my options, I decided that I would start with the one I thought I would like the least: Thunder Wintergreen White portion Snus! Let’s begin our review and I’ll explain why.
If you've read my reviews you’ll understand that Wintergreen is probably my most disliked flavor when it comes to smokeless tobacco. This is not because of my dislike of the flavor; it’s because of a bad experience I had with an American smokeless Wintergreen brand.
