As some of you may have heard, Mick and I have entered the publishing business with The Snuff Taker's Ephemeris; a bi-monthly periodical devoted to all things snus and snuff. I wanted to share with SnusCENTRAL one of the many roads that lead me to want to do a book on tobacco. It would be a crime to omit the name of Tom Dunn from the story. This essay is dedicated to the memory of Tom Dunn, 1938-2005. Most people remember Tom as the founder and publisher of The Pipe Smoker's Ephemeris, which he put out regularly from 1965 until his death of stomach cancer in 2005. TPSE, as it was more commonly known by its readers, was the single best tobacco-related periodical ever concocted. Tom never made much off of his magazine (in fact, he probably didn't even break even), so TPSE was a true labor of love in every sense of the word.
Mick Hellwig is a Founding Member of SnusCENTRAL and a prolific writer. He has the most posts of anyone on the SnusCENTRAL Forum, but more importantly, he loves helping those new to snus and anyone else with a question.
He wrote a review on Discreet Snus worthy of the Larry Waters and Friends Snus Review Section a while back. He truly is an excellent and engaging writer.
Mr. Hellwig is also know for his opinions, his passions, and is not shy in expressing them. You may not agree with them; you may become one of his Legion of HELLwigers. One thing you will not be is bored or misinformed.
Big Mick, as we lovingly call him here, is meticulous in his research and has been a go-to for me on areas I'm not familiar with or if I need an objective second opinion.
Mick will writing on Snus, both Swedish and American, Nasal Snuff, and "stuff". I'm frankly not quite sure what the "stuff" is but it will tie into tobacco somehow...or maybe not. Big Mick is a loose cannon and I'm excited to have him firing away (as long as he doesn't hit my snus fridge!). His wife, Mrs. Mick, has already begun highjacking his column when Mick is asleep. Fortunately, she is an outstanding author in her own right.
Welcome aboard Mick (and Mrs. Mick too, it seems), and God save us all.
