Psychology has always played a major roll in product development and marketing. Words like bigger, stronger, faster, better, and safer are only a few of hundreds of examples.
Read the active ingredients list on a bottle of Listerine. There is only one: alcohol. I get more oral health benefit from a couple of fingers of whisky and more enjoyment too.
Smokers who have switched to Swedish Snus have long been motivated by snus having the about the same risk factors as French Roast Coffee. In the 45 years since modern Swedish snus has been regulated as a food product by the Swedish National Food Agency (think FDA in US terms), there have been no documented cases of Swedish snus being directly responsible for tooth lose, gum disease, or oral cancer.
This peace of mind has made the transition from smoking to Swedish snus easier, especially for US smokers who have never used oral tobacco or who have a negative impression of smokeless tobacco through American snuff and chewing tobacco.
The mad scientists at Swedish Match took snus psychology to a new level a few months ago by introducing two snuses which potentially improve tooth and mouth health: The LaB 22 Slim White Mint Portion Snus and The LaB 24 Slim White Mint Licorice Portion Snus.....
For 2015, V2 Tobacco has released two different snus special editions: Thunder I Snow You Love Me Extra Strong portion snus and Thunder Frosted Christmas Extra Strong portion snus. I've been using both snuses today and here are my thoughts.....
New Thunder Snus products are coming and we have word on which of the five 2015 Limited Edition snuses survived the cut.
Our SnusCIA agent in Denmark sat in on a recent marketing meeting at V2 Tobacco in Silkeborg, Denmark. No one from V2 knew our agent was sitting in; the meeting was held in Marc Vogel's cathedral-sized office. She just sat in the back and no one noticed her although V2 Uber Director Patrick Vogel kept looking in her direction for some reason.
It was a little hard to hear sitting that far in the back, but she was able to glean the following information....
Swedish Snus giant Swedish Match is making some major changes to it's snus line-up for 2015. There will be new snus products starting this week and some current snuses will be delisted. Here's what we know so far.....
Back in the 1990's there was a snus called Göteborgs Rapé Original Portion. In 1997, Swedish Match invented the white portion and introduced the now iconic Göteborgs Rapé White Portion Snus in 1998.
Today, Göteborgs Rapé exists in a variety of white portion versions from mini to slim to large as well as the classic loose snus version.
Perhaps it was an oversight; perhaps the sales numbers of the new white portion version were so spectacular, but Swedish Match ceased production of Göteborgs Rapé Original Portion snus in 2000.
A notice on the Federal Register that indicates the Swedish Match General Snus Modified Risk Tobacco Product Application (MRTPA) will be published tomorrow.
Since accepting the General Snus application in August of last year, the FDA Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) has on several occasions asked for additional or clarifying information. These amendments will now be available for a second 30-day public comment period ending August 31.
After this comment period ends, FDA Tobacco Czar Mitch Zeller should be able to finally make a final decision on the fate of the General Snus MRTPA.
Today marks the Grand Opening of the latest Swedish Match snus store in Gothenburg. It joins the original in Stockholm and store in Strömstad as showcases of the Swedish Match snus experience.
Designer Marcus Carlsson has expanded his vision with each store. The most radical change to the Gothenburg store is that its called "Swedish Match". The other two are named Svenskt Snus.
Compliments of Maji Dahlberg of Swedish Match, here is a brief photo journey through the new Swedish Match Snus Store.
Moe Unz of SnusCentral.com was supposed to be our reporter on the scene but was banned by Swedish Match President and CEO Lars Dahlgren. Moe disrupted the Strömstad Grand Opening when he drunkenly knocked over the expresso machine. No one was taking any chances in Gothenburg today.
V2 Tobacco announced today that the Thunder Snus Limited Edition for 2015 will be released in June. As with previous Thunder Snus Limited Editions, the 5 new Thunder Extra Strong snus flavors will come 2 cans each in the giant Limited edition snus can.....
Today the Washington Post asked the world to lighten up on President Obama for smoking cigarettes. Really. I'm not kidding.
Philip Bump's article entitled Let President Obama have a cigarette, already left me slack-jawed as did hundreds of the comments from the readers supporting this viewpoint. I'm sure the closed-minded anti-all-tobacco zealots were equally as stunned.
Bump makes the argument, echoed by the majority of the commenters, that President Obama has a very stressful job and should be cut some slack on smoking. Obama started in his youth and we all know it's very hard for long-time smokers to quit...
In April 2015, Skruf AB made a radical change to the snus they sold in Sweden. The tobacco used in the six Swedish market Skruf products was changed to 100% organic tobacco from Brazil and the United States. This is the new Skruf Ecological line.
At the same time, Skruf makes a lot more than six different snuses. These snuses are for the Norwegian and International markets including eSnus Shops. They are made from the same tobacco Skruf had been using prior to Ecological being released.
This is especially important for snusers buying from internet snus shops as some carry both lines.
If you are a Skruf snus fan living outside of Sweden and can't tell the difference between the Ecological and International version cans, you could be taken advantage of and/or disappointed. This is not a consumer beware situation as much as a consumer be aware.
Be aware of what Skruf snus you are buying and you will get what you're paying for. Here's how......
Marine military exchanges within the United States are now carrying some extra firepower: Thunder Extra Strong Snus.....
