A New American Snus Brand?

During their daily operations briefing, the SnusCIA Confirmed a new brand of American snus is being test-marketed.  No other information is being released at this time.  An article by Larry Waters will be appearing soon with all the details.

The SnusCIA has been unable to locate the rumored two new "mystery flavors" of Camel SNUS.  An RJR Sales Rep, when questioned about the two new Camel SNUS offerings, stated that we must be thinking of the Camel Snus "they" had released in Europe.  Our source for this information considered telling the RJR Rep that JTI owned the brand rights to Camel outside the US and RJR had/could not use the Camel Brand name in Europe.  In the end, he decided it would just confuse the poor fellow and ended the conversation.

The US Camel SNUS website makes no mention of any other SNUS flavors except Frosted and Mellow.  That makes two too many flavors of Camel SNUS than necessary but at least the product line has not grown to four.  At least, not yet.  The Doomsday Clock was recently moved back one minute to reflect the current lack of new Camel SNUS products.

  1. You mean "Robust", and "Winterchill"? These have been shown and mentioned before on the web, some military PXs have them.

Another new American snus is called ASAP.
  2. Robust and Winterchill...I live in the original SNUS test market and no one knows anything here. I'll check with my friends in the military to see if they can get me some. Thanks for the PX tip!

ASAP I'm aware of. I interviewed the President of Cheyenne Tobacco about it yesterday. He was pretty tight-lipped but we had an hour and a half chat anyway. Trying to track down who is private labeling it for them. The usual suspects are denying it.

The "very limited test markets" ASAP is in now....do you know where any of them are? I'd like to get my hands on a can of either/both flavors and Bill wasn't very forthcoming.;-)
  3. I've seen them for sale on eBay!
  4. Thanks for the tip!
  5. I've had both Robust and Winterchill. Nothing special, and nothing to go out of your way to find. They are for sale on military installations, mine came from a BX in Florida.

The portions are a little bit bigger, and they added the word "Large" to the cans. Robust is worse than Camel Mellow, it has a sharp, pungent aroma, a tobacco flavor with a ton of artificial sweet taste to it. Winterchill tastes like a terribly sweet Wintergreen.

Also, if anyone remembers the Camel "Signature Blend" cigarettes, these seem to be following in the same footsteps as those. Frost, Mellow, Robust...they skipped "Infused" and went straight to Winterchill. (they had to at least attempt to bastardize Wintergreen, I mean why miss out on that?)

Again, I stress - nothing special about these two products.

And the new American Snus, if it's Cheyenne International, it may be the rumored "ASAP" "SNUS" which has some rather interesting looking cans. I'll be looking forward to details and info soon!
  6. Chad, is there a content weight on the cans? If so, how many portions to a can.

When you say the portions are 'larger', does that mean the same old pouch only a little bigger or a new pouch?
  7. The new cans come 15 pouches to a can and have "Large" on the can now.

The side of the can says (and I didn't weigh to confirm, but what they list is as follows) NET WT 0.53 OZ (15g).

The portion material looks and feels to be the same. The new portion is about 1.5" x 3/4" Also, a little more thick.

The old portions were around 1.4" x 0.4".

Also, the snus seems to be a little more moist in this offering than the last one.
