   It was against the law before to sell to minors and for minors to by.Would that not of been enough?Do not give minors a credit card if you cannot trust them,then they cannot by over the internet.Also how is it marketing towards children.This bill does nothing to protect children further.

   It's also against the law in every State to sell cigarettes over the counter to minors...yet they buy them or steal them from Mommy's purse. Laws mean nothing if they are not enforced and parental responsibility seems to be dead these days. The bill does nothing to protect children; nothing to control tobacco but does help Philip Morris maintain Marlboro's dominance in the market place.

   The Obama anti-smoking bill, or the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act puts cigarettes and other tobacco products squarely into the hands of the FDA, and even if tobacco companies are looking for a little more cash now, they are prohibited from marketing to teenagers with the bill, or engaging in any other misleading marketing. Though some are concerned with smokers' rights, tobacco use is a public health concern, and smoking is the leading environmental cause (all cancers can be caused due to genetics) of lung cancer.    To Keenan O - I'm sorry, but I find both your comment and the article at the end of the link you provided more than a little flawed..........first of all, tobacco companies are already prohibited from advertising to children, teenagers, or minors of any age. No gain there........The blog post you link to says that by FDA lowering nicotine, cigarettes will be less addictive. Wrong. It will just mean current smokers will begin smoking even more cigarettes just to maintain their addiction......The only thing this Law does is set up a very costly (to the taxpayers) Constitutional challenge which the Government will lose. While some believe cigarettes are the leading environmental cause of lung cancer, tobacco itself does not cause lung cancer in any way, shape, or form. Only combustible tobacco, i.e. cigarettes, is linked to lung cancer. Smokeless tobacco in general and Swedish Snus in particular have a ZERO link to lung cancer........Your totally ridiculous assertion that people will take out personal loans to pay for smoking cessation I can only surmise is made because the article link you include is to a website named "Personal Money Store". Obviously, you hope people will take out more personal loans since you profit by it, but for the 46MM American Smokers already addicted to nicotine including President Obama, it's totally unnecessary. Snus; especially Swedish Snus, is at a minimum 98% less dangerous than cigarettes............ So is caffeinated coffee which anti-all-tobacco/save the children groups seem to be completely ignoring. It is legal and out of FDA control for children and teenagers to drink coffee..and evil caffeinated soda...and Power Drinks!..........All President Obama and the other 46MM current American cigarette smokers have to do is switch to Swedish Snus: known not to cause lung, mouth, oral, or throat cancer. No spitting so snus is completely discreet. Swedish snus is also available in different strengths of nicotine including no nicotine. Dr. Brad Rodu has shown smoking and even tobacco cessation using snus is much, much more effective than Big Pharma's nicotine gum and patches.......please educate yourself more on Kennedy/Waxman and what the new law REALLY does (and fails to do).
