   Let me be perfectly clear--I DO NOT advocate the use of ANY tobacco product. The studies done in Sweden have been challenged by Health Officals and maybe inaccurate. The tobacco companies of the U.S. are not to be trusted when marketing their products, since there is no regulation of tobacco products in the U.S. We simply do not know exactly to what extent the use of snus will affect the user's health in the long run. Any use of tobacco can be harmful since it contains carcinogins. The level of nicotine is similar to cigarettes and can affect the cardiovascular system. To say that Swedish snus is less harmful than cigarettes is just another way of saying that it is less lethal--point is that is still may be lethal. Same gun, smaller bullet.    It seems like she has the U.S. attempt at snus confused with Swedish snus which, in the 200+ years of it's existance has only produced a few known cases of cancer.
   
   She needs to research ALL articles on snus rather than what the Anti-Tobacco advocates put out there prior to publishing an article that would bash a much safer way to enjoy tobacco than what the U.S. currently offers.
   
   As for the "Same Gun, Smaller Bullet" comment, it's like saying that all cars will go at the same top speed because they all have engines. I'm sure Porsche and Lamborgini will agree!
   
   The last thing I will say about her article is this, the last time I checked, America was still a free country. Rather than trying to make American stop smoking with drugs and ineffective NRT's, VJ needs to seek out places SnusCENTRAL.org and realise that people are quitting smoking using Swedish Snus rather than poisioning themselves with prescription drugs and lining the pockets of another cancerous plague on the American people, Big Drug Companies! [end rant}

Since Swedish Snus runs from high nicotine down to nicotine-free, many smokers wishing to quit have more success with Swedish Snus than they do with patches or gum. I hope everyone who can and wants to stop using tobacco does. For those who can't or simply don't want to, Swedish Snus is a win for them, a win for non-smokers, a win for the Government who can tax snus instead of cigarettes once they ban cigarettes without bankrupting the US more than it already is, and just an all around American way of dealing with a problem.    For all who want to say there is 'no proof' that Swedish snus is less harmful than fermented dip or cigarettes, then ignore the living laboratories of Sweden and Norway, which have 200-year histories with the product, and the lowest lung and pancreatic cancer rates in Europe.
