General's Wedge Shape 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I'm new to snussing and recently got a tin of General White Portion. I'm wondering why the portion is wedge shaped. I also noticed that one end of the portion is wider than the other end. Is there a specific way to place this under the lip that utilizes the wedge shape to stay in place better or something? I'm assuming it goes in horizontally, but does anyone put it under the lip vertically? None of the other snusses I have bought have this wedge shape and I can't find any info out there indicating its purpose.

P.S. I can see why General is so popular. The white portion is very tasty, lasts a long time, and doesn't drip. I find the nic level adequate as well.

Me, I just "fluff" the general white portions. Basically roll it between thumb and forefinger to break up the snus inside. Makes it release the flavor and nic a little quicker and feels more confortable to me.

I think it's manufactured that way so it can be put in to the star formation, which does look pretty cool when opening the can.

Going from Swedish snus to Marlboro is like cheating on your wife with a fat/ugly woman...it just doesn\\\'t make sense to do it. -rickcharles606

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swedish Snus jcaz. And to the forums of course.

There are a couple of snus varieties that have a wedge shaped portion, most notably General Onyx and General White. Those two also come arranged in a "star" pattern in the can, pretty nifty eh?

Some folks find the wedge shape makes the portion fit more comfortably, some don't. It's intended to be used the same as any other portion. Generally I think most folks stick with the horizontal placement. I usually put the thinner end of the wedge towards the front of my mouth, but I tend to find the thick end is still a bit thick for my licking, so I tend to squish wedge shaped portions a bit to make them shaped more like normal portions before using them.

All in all it comes down to personal preference. There are no rules to snus use, find what works best for you and feels the most comfortable.

Hang around here a while and you'll see everyone's got their own tricks or preferences. Some folks prefer to use their snus in the bottom lip instead of the top. Some folks use two portions at once, some folks fold their portions in half to use them.

Keep using snus and you'll figure out what suits you. Try putting the portion in different ways and in different positions under your lip and see what gives you the best combo of comfort, level of drip, etc to meet your needs.

Most important thing is... Enjoy!

Phager and Gink, thanks for the input!

I usually "fluff" all portions before putting them in, and that's what I've been doing with the Generals too.

I usually alternate between the upper lip and bottom lip depending on what type of snus I'm using, but I do find that the wetter ones, like Thunder, are better up top because they drip a lot and there always seems to be more liquid when I use the bottom lip. But I find that the nic hit is the same regardless of whether I use top or bottom lip. The bottom lip seems to have more room though, and for some reason I ALWAYS use the bottom lip for all my oden's. Generals seem good up top because the taste distribution in the mouth is better that way. For some reason though I get a better experience with Oden's in the bottom lip. Weird, huh?

Pat and Gink pretty much covered it.

I don't enjoy the wedge shape, and always "fluff" them. You can watch some of the videos in the YouTube sections to see how its done if you are still unsure.

I wished all snus came in the star formation, as it is easier to tell how much is left. Unlike Offroad, which, according to my last two cans of Cranberry, appear to be jammed in there with a sledgehammer.

When I started snus I loved the wedge shape it fit my mouth perfectly. Now not as much, but the wedge still stays in place longer than any other configuration.

Welcome to the forums... I am a lower lipper, so the wedge is nice, just but it in "sideways" and its fine.

I just fluff it. I push the top and bottom together and then roll it around in my finger and it's good to go.

I was told just to roll them between your fingers to make them more comfortable under the lip, never really got the idea of the wedges other than to make them look really cool in their star formation in the can

Theoretically, you should be able to go to the SnusTV > Member Videos section off the main menu and add the URL yourself.

Once you're there, click the "Add Videos" button and a screen will come up where you can add the URL. If by some odd chance you can't see the Add Videos button, send me the URL and I'll add it.
