There seems to be a lot of "interesting" information being preached as gospel concerning requirements of the PACT Act and the Tobacco Control Act.

Moe Unz, beleagered Manager of SnusCentral.com has posted the following statement on PACT Compliance regarding the Snus Store:

We pay the appropriate duties and government fees up front for you. We use the UPS DDP (Delivery and Duty Paid) service. If you as a customer should be contacted by a local authority to pay taxes or brokerage fees please contact us. We promise you that we’ll sort this out without any problems for you.


First, people are scared to death to use international UPS because of the brokerage/customs fees that were springing up left and right. This needs to be emphasized prominently so that there is no apprehension in ordering overseas.

Secondly, people in the high tax states need to know that snuscentral, being based in Sweden, DOESN'T HAVE TO COLLECT STATE TAXES. If you live in most US states, you would be paying MUCH less ordering from Sweden than you would ordering from a US warehouse.

Third, the UPS rates are lower than they used to be. The last time I used international UPS from Sweden, it cost me 35 bucks and some change. That same service is now 21.00, which is VERY reasonable compared to the alternatives.

Fourth, Snuscentral still ships all the goodies that can't be sold in the US (except for Camel, Lucky and Montecristo). It's as thought he PACT act never happened (because, as much as the government hates this, their authority can only reach so far).

Fifth, it's everyone's duty as an American to

LEGALLY

fight this PACT act. By ordering from Sweden, you are not only obeying the PACT law to the letter, but you are shorting the pockets of all the politicians who thought that they were going to get rich off of the increased taxation. It's a just cause. Think of it as "The Boston Snus Party".

Lastly, if all of the above didn't convince you, just look at the bottom line- your bank book. Here is the same order pre-PACT, post-PACT and through a North American retailer.

Take a minute and let that sink in. Sure PACT sucks, but really, it only adds 10.00 to an order if you order from Snuscentral. And it's STILL CHEAPER THAN ORDERING FROM THE NORTHERNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in North Carolina. We are the second lowest taxed tobacco state in the country. My 86.51 would easily be double that in some states.

Another advantage? The Make Webo warehouse doesn't break down two rolls of General Sterk and ship them loose in a padded envelope and then charge double for the privilege. My two rolls from SC come rolled in a cardboard box like they should be.

The bottom line? If it's cheaper for me in North Carolina to order from Sweden, than it should be cheaper for everyone. If it gets here just as fast from Sweden as it does from Pennsylvania, then there's no "time" advantage to ordering from the US. And if it comes in a CARDBOARD BOX instead of a torn up padded envelope, than that seals the deal.

Well said, Feck! One important clarification. This statement is from SnusCentral.com's point of view being in Sweden.

As Americans, we are supposed to report and pay tax on every internet purchase we make where tax was not collected. Buy a snuff box on eBay, we are all required to report and pay the sales tax. Buy a bottle of wine from out of your home State, you are required to pay the alcohol and sales tax.

So don't forget to add your snus purchases to your list of all other internet purchases when tax time comes around.

Err, yes, I meant to say "Be American and pay your taxes."

Seriously though, the taxes aren't so much the issue as the way that the method to pay it is set up. It's up to the consumer to pay the taxes on everything he buys online, which I'm sure we all do anyway.

Is this true in all states? I know there is some variations. Ohio law says we should pay the sales taxes, but I don't know about, say, Iowa. This goes for all internet purchases not just tobacco.

Probaly won't need to make a order before nov 2010 But I can still order LD from snuscentral if so I will do a happy dance.Its Good to know that ups is not going to cost me an arm and a leg to get my snus.
