Does anyone have any new info in this. There was a hearing July 2nd on this matter but I can't find any official ruling on this. Anyone have any info. Google gives nothing.

That's the main reason I didn't vote for McCain either.

I love you, man! In a non romantic manly type of way.

I am so done voting for the lesser of two evils. I will vote for the guy who comes closest to my personal beliefs. I don't care if I'm "throwing away my vote", maybe if enough people follow my lead the parties will learn. Look at the last election, we had no choices beyond the "approved " non candidates. Was McCain the best or the safest choice? Was Obama the best choice or just the one whose past could be buried enough?
Love or hate Reagan at least he said what he thought and didn't change with the winds.

I love you too, in a completely hetero way of course.

Honestly, I voted for Bush the second time he ran simply because he had already voted down PACT once already. I was already ordering tobacco through the mail at that time and I realized the ramifications of PACT ahead of time.

I went the Ron Paul route this last time simply because he was the only one to have the balls to say what he thought about the PACT act:

"... a desperate last ditch attempt by the government to stifle the black market that they helped to create..."

and the FDA bill:

"Other than ensuring that tobacco companies do not engage in force or fraud to market their products, the federal government needs to stay out of the health habits of free people. Regulations for children should be at the state level. Unfortunately, government is using its already overly intrusive financial and regulatory roles in healthcare to establish a justifiable interest in intervening in your personal lifestyle choices as well. We all need to anticipate the level of health freedom that will remain once government manages all health care in this country."

And on the war against Christianity:

"Through perverse court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the elitist, secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that religion must be driven from public view. The justification is always that someone, somewhere, might possibly be offended or feel uncomfortable living in the midst of a largely Christian society, so all must yield to the fragile sensibilities of the few. The ultimate goal of the anti-religious elites is to transform America into a completely secular nation, a nation that is legally and culturally biased against Christianity.

And on the Second Admendment:

Thomas Jefferson said "The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; ...that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." Jefferson, and all of the Founders, would be horrified by the proliferation of unconstitutional legislation that prevents law-abiding Americans from exercising their right and duty to keep and bear arms. I hope my colleagues will join me in upholding the Founders' vision for a free society by cosponsoring the Second Amendment Restoration Act.

Tobacco? Check.
God? Check.
Guns? Check.

Those three criteria are the only three by which I vote. The rest is politics, and as such are better left to people with more time and money than myself to play that losing game.

Americans are afraid of change. If you wanted hope and change this last election, you probably would have voted Ron Paul. Conservative Libertarianism is the embodiment of the Tea Party movement, and nobody fills that spirit more than Ron Paul. But as history has shown us time and again, Americans are patently unwilling to deviate from the two party system. Cowards.

The hearing is actually scheduled for today. The initial report that said it was set for the second of July was an error.

Great post, Feck.

I wish I would have looked into Ron Paul more during the last election.

Sorry, but I gave up on RP when he said the media was biased towards the Repubs. At that point I figured he was to out of touch to be a serious contender. Plus I met/knew a bunch of his supporters. Mostly from the hippy/moonbat crowd only following him hoping to end the "war".
Having said all that, which can be summed up as he's almost as nutty as Dennis Kucuinich, I totally agree with him on almost everything he's ever said about economics.

This is why I didn't look into him more in the last election.

See, that's why I find out the three things I'm looking for in a candidate and then block them out completely afterwards. If you listen to them long enough, they're eventually going to put their foot in their mouth.

I chose my wife pretty much the same way. Pretty? Check. Clean? Check. Holds down a job? Check. The rest I just block out, because she's eventually going to say something to piss me off.

I call that selective hearing. Every married guy learns it eventually. It's even more necessary if you have daughters.

Kucinich may be nutty, but he can't be stupid. Have you seen his wife? How did THAT happen?

I'd go with blackmail. Actually I've heard he's a really nice guy. Doesn't change he's a nut job when it comes to politics.

All my life, I've seen dorks get the hot babes. I still don't understand it.

I heard Dennis is 5'2", but two feet of that is something that keeps Ms. Kucinich very happy...
