Should I pick snüs back up? 2 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 4
Hey fellas,
The sooner it comes to me coming back to the States (in China now) I ask myself the question... ''should I pick snüs back up?''

I have been tobacco free for about 2 months now. I have no withdrawals ever. I do find that I want to use snüs though. I would buy cans for sure if I had access to them here.

So the question is? If you were in my shoes, would you buy more snüs once you had access, after being tobacco free for more than 60 days?

For me, I feel that the benefits of snüs, and the fact that I enjoy it greatly outweighs the disadvantages. What do you guys think?

I would definitely go back to snus.

The question is , is that the wise thing to do? Probably not. Tobacco in any form can harm your health. Snus may be the safest , but there is still risk. DO you really want to be addicted to nicotine? The addiction is the rough part. Do you want to have to pay a company to stay satisfied?

No one can answer this for you. I already answered it for me. I'll snus as long as I can, and hopefully they'll stick one last one in my lip at my funeral, and put the rest of the can in my pocket.

Probably yes, but as Mick said, you have to answer this for yourself.

Don't they glue your lips shut? If that is the case, you may want to resort to snuff.

Starting snus back up...me? I would not do it on the regular. I would do it every few weekends or so, kinda like a sit back an relax type deal. I know...I know...what's the point...

I would like to hear from you though about how you feel now, two months free if an addiction.

If I were able to go two months without tobacco of any kind, I would try to keep it that way. I haven't gone two months without tobacco since I was eleven years old though.

2 months? I can't remember more than 3 days, in 25 years.

Julls, whatever it takes, I just don't want to think of a long journey without tobacco. I am afraid if I take a pipe or cigar G*d will place me close to the fire.

Re:Should I pick snüs back up? 2 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 25
Sorry for the following rambling self-indulgent post, but Mick's prior post got me to thinking.

I still have an occasional pipe or cigar now and then. I went a long time without wanting them once I gave up cigarettes. I was afraid that the mere act of burning tobacco would drive me back to cigarettes, but it isn't like that at all. Even when I smoked cigarettes I never inhaled pipes or cigars, but my tastebuds were still wrecked and I never really got to appreciate the nuances of premium tobacco like I can now thanks to snus.

I'm pretty much back to where I was when I was ten or eleven years old. Me and my cousin would steal my Grandpa's Blue Ribbon cigars (sometimes Dutch Master) and go hide in the woods and smoke them like we were bigshots. We did this every now and then. I would savor the "high" I'd get from those stogies, and the drunk dreamlike walk back home through the forest that I would barely remember later in the day. Later on we would start stealing Red Man chew or Copenhagen dip and I noticed that our trips out to the woods were becoming more and more frequent. That was the start of my nicotine addiction, as far as I can tell.

Once I hit about twelve I had graduated to cigarettes, and when I learned how to "for real" smoke by inhaling it down to my lungs, I noticed none of the pleasant, calming tranquility that I got from cigars. Instead I noticed an insane hypodermic injection of that "warm" feeling I got when I chewed and dipped. This truly was the only way to take tobacco.

Flash forward twenty years and the nicotine that I get from snus is sort of in between what I got from Cigarettes and dip. I get the required amount of nicotine satisfaction (similar to cigarettes) but it lasts longer (like when I dipped). Cigarettes gave me an instant fix, but it was short lived. Dip took forever to deliver nicotine to my brain, but it lasted a great while. Snus seems to hit me harder and faster than dip, and it has enough nicotine that I don't have to use a pack a day (like cigarettes or dip). It truly is the best nicotine delivery device on the planet.

And now that I no longer smoke and I have my nicotine addiction appeased, I can enjoy a cigar or pipe once or twice a week and not crave a cigarette. However, if I was able to get over my nicotine addiction I would probably never pick anything up ever again if I could help it. Since I'm a realist and I realize that for better or worse I'm always going to have Vitamin N coursing through my system, there's no way in heck I would give up snus. Even if I could make it two days or two months, the temptation would be too great to pick up something unhealthier. Snus helped me quit cigarettes and snus helps me stay quit.

I've seen it happen to many times to friends and relatives that have quit smoking. They're fine for a few months, a few weeks, sometimes even a few years- but I can honestly say that I don't know a single person that quit cigarettes at one point and didn't have a relapse down the road. I however know of many smokers that switched to snus and never looked back. I'm one of them, and I can honestly say that if I were in the OP's shoes I would place an expedited order of snus, just to be on the safe side.

Brilliant post, Feck! Truer words were never spoken. I too an unable to give up nicotine and unwilling to put up with life without it. Swedish Snus saved my life and I will die with a portion in my mouth....a lot later than if I had kept smoking.

Of course, I could still get hit by a bus but I'll have a portion in when the bus runs me over.

When I become a big-time Snus manufacturer I'm going to come up with a 20 mg nicotine portion and call it "Hit By a Bus" in your honor, Larry.

If I were forced to quit for 2 months like in your situation, personally I wouldn't go back. I would think of it like a fresh start. I know nicotine is nice and all when it comes to taking the edge off. I sometimes wish I hadn't started in the first place though. It is so hard for me to quit, and if I had the opportunity to not have any tobacco products I would want to use it would be one of the easiest ways to quit I could think of. It would probably be nice to be off the hook again (and have the spare cash floating around my pockets.) lol.

That's actually a good idea! I wish I had some photoshop skills.

Hey Chad, howsabout doctoring that pic to include the Snuscentral logo on the license plate area and a can of some kind of Sterk laying next to her?
