This is my fifth can of Swedish snus and I think we've found a winner! Full of tobacco and lemon flavor, but not overpowering. Tastes of salt without being dominated by salt. A nice hit of vitamin N without causing hiccups.

Fantastic!

Yumyumyumyum

For me, the Gen Onyx is a nice cross between the GenWhite and the GenES. Gen ES tends to jus quite a bit and become a little overbearing (one hell of a wake up snus though!) And the Onyx portions a nice and soft on my gums. Its kind of like a lemmony-peppery teddy bear in my mouth. (Kinda)

I am a big fan of General Onyx as well, but I think for portions, I enjoy Grov Black just a little more.

To top them both though...

I'm about 75% through my first can of General ES lös. All I can say is ...

Ive just received my first can of Onyx - first impressions are very good! As mentioned before there's a lovely lemon/peeper flavour, long lasting and a good nic content.
I love the black portions, also the way they are presented all fanned out, very cool!
@psrichter: I wondered why I hiccuped sometimes while snusing!

Thought I'd throw in my two cents about Onyx.

Now THIS was a great snus. Everything about it was top-class, from the can, to the star arrangement of the snus, to the black portions, the smell...the flavor....everything about it just screams quality. Now I see why people have spoken so highly of it for so long. Because it is that good. I would go so far as to call it "The Cadillac of Snus".

General Onyx is a black white portion. If that makes sense. It doesn't go through that last step that differentiates a white portion from a regular portion that adds more moisture to the portion. However - the material is anything but white. General Onyx is presented with the utmost quality in black portion bag material. It is a strong portion, each 1 gram portion has 11 mg of nicotine. It packs a pretty good kick. The can is very unique. It's a black color with a black glossy stem and leaf design all around it. The top of the can has a very unique silver catch lid, and of course the portions come arranged in the circular star pattern that General is known for.

As I have been getting into the "non flavored" snus lately, the citrus taste of Bergamot has began to grow on me. I rather enjoy it now. Upon opening the can I was hit with a slightly sweet smell. Like the smell of a sweet lemonade drink, but with hints of tobacco and a melding aroma of pepper conjoined to the lemon aroma. After putting in a portion I was waiting for that taste, but was surprised with something very different. A pleasant lemon taste. I shouldn't have been surprised after smelling it, but I thought my senses were tricking me. As the portion matured in my mouth a taste of pepper began to mix with the lemon. And when I say mix, it did it very gracefully, and allowed the tobacco and hints of salt to gently balance their way into the maturing taste that was tantalizing my taste buds. And what was From start to finish, General Onyx continued to develop, the flavor growing stronger until the very end - the balance of lemon and pepper being very pronounced as the main components of this snus.

After removing it, I was very pleased. I sat back and held the beautiful can of General Onyx and thought about what I had just experienced. A snus like no other. Something that will always be in my collection.

Now, with that being said, General Onyx is not an "all the time" snus. You may wonder, "If something is THAT good, why wouldn't you want it ALL the time?" Well, too much of a good thing can be a bit much. After receiving General Onyx the other day, I enjoyed about 3 or 4 portions, and that was about all I was in the mood for. Not that it wore out it's welcome, it's just so rich that it's something I would classify as an occasional snus. Something to definitely keep in the stockpile, but not to overdo at risk of having such a great snus turn on you. General Onyx is a class act. A snus that stands alone, and apart from all others.

Damn you Swedish Match! (shakes fist)

I cracked open my first can of Onyx yesterday and fell in love. My favorite Snus to date and one of the most expensive ones! It's just not fair. Although, it's not fair I can't eat Rib-eye every night either!

My wife's two favorites are Gotland Flader and Onyx, which I never fail to stop pointing out are two of the most expensive brands.

Okay, we got Onyx in our first order the other day, my husband tried it, and with yalls talk, I figured it was time for me to try it.

I thought maybe Onyx was going to teach me a lesson as Mr. Oden did, "Don't play with the big boys", but Onyx is do-able even for me. I think I like it more than my husband does, which is surprising.

Just starting snus a few days ago, my mouth is feeling a bit sensitive. I agree with Joe Mama, the Onyx is smooth, almost comforting.

I like General Onyx, but I think it's too good for daily use.

The flavor is great -- and that's the problem I have with it. When I use snus, I want it to be part of my life, not have my life be part of my snus, if that makes sense. When I put in General Onyx, I spend the next 15 minutes thinking about how great it tastes, rather than whatever else I'm doing.

So, most of the time I just use General or Grov portion or loose. Good, but not distractingly so.

Just some snus-food for thought....have u tried 01/02 yet? I am positively, unequivocally enamored of all things General. Just wish the Cardomom/Cinnoman flavor came in reg size portions and nic strength

One thing I can say, tho not sure I speak for all snusers, is that even when u develop a marked affinity for one snus or narrow your daily snuses down to half a dozen in rotation, here comes something new to please your tastebuds and expand your snus horizons. The joy is this whole snus thing is...it's not static, but an ever-new fun adventure

Peace and Snus,
Gina & Co.

I second this. I greatly enjoy Onyx, but I can't use it all the time. The flavor is very rich, and pure, and is one of the best flavors you can get in a snus, but I can't exhaust my usage of it. It's very flavorful, and I use it ocassionally, but daily....might become overkill.

I agree with ya'll too, onyx is a bit much for a real go-to snus but i do like to abuse it for a few days at a time then switch out to something else. Now grovsnus svart, I can snus that as long as I have enough.

p.s [quote] The joy is this whole snus thing is...it's not static, but an ever-new fun adventure /quote]

Yes!!! That is the intrepid snusing attitude for sure, and with new flavors and brands coming out nearly every other time I order, there is a never ending hobby-like nature to it
