OK, I was quite a ways from home when I realized I forgot my snus. I have no will power when it comes to nicotine, and I was unwilling to make my wife drive me all the way back home to pick up a can of Ettan, but I didn't want to have a cigarette. So, I went to the nearest gas station and picked up a packet of Camel RoBUST. I had heard rumors, but, I figured, how bad could it really be?d

This was the most vile and disgusting tobacco product I have ever experienced. Artificially sweetened sandpaper, no tobacco flavor whatsoever, and I've gotten more nicotine from those crappy patches they pawn off as stop smoking aids. I had to smoke a Newport bummed from a friend to get the get the taste out of my mouth. It didn't work. I would rather smoke cheap, bargain brand cigarettes, the kind they make from broken tobacco stems and floor sweepings, than use Camel RoBUST.

Like many other users on here, the only good thing I can say about Camel Snus is that it led me to REAL Swedish snus. I remember when I first tried Camel Snus. I put in one of those mellows, twenty minutes later took it out, and immediately lit up a cigarette. I tried the frost; it was too sweet and burned the inside of my lip like battery acid. Then I purchased some Swedish snus. Goodbye cigarette habit, hello Swedish snus habit. I smoked cigarettes, cigars, chewed, dipped, etc for over thirty years, and figured I'd never be able to quit. I was that addicted. Every smoking cessation attempt ended in utter failure. Swedish snus made quitting cigarettes easy. I tell people that I quit smoking as easy as if I was quitting eating fried eggs. I have Swedish snus to thank for that, and grudgingly, I must say I have that nasty sickly sweet crud masquerading as snus from the Camel folks to thank for getting me to the REAL snus. Today marks my 162nd day without a cigarette. I'd never quit that long using any other smoking cessation product, and I tried them all. Even those disgusting lollipops from the pharmacy. Those were $40 for ten. I can get almost three times that many snus for the same amount of money, and Swedish snus don't make me want to puke.

Definitely nowhere near the quality of the good Swedish stuff, but it's better than nothing in a pinch. I think it needs to be viewed in the manner that it held value for me; it was a widely available and convenient product that introduced me to real Swedish snus. Without it I would've never discovered snus, this website, or snuscentral.com to order the good stuff. If you've never had "real" Swedish snus then it's somewhat tolerable... but after you get your hands on the good stuff then it does become sickeningly sweet and smells like Windex.

Just got my first order of Swedish snus. A really good experience that will get better with more exposure. I don't believe I will ever go back to the Camel. The nic punch alone will keep me coming back to Swedish...I didn't think once about a cigarette...these portions are much more satisfying than Camel Snus.

Tried this a couple times, both mint and mellow. Thought it would taste better if I got used to it. Smell and taste is overwhelmingly strong yet boring at the same time. Mint is better than mellow, mellow tastes like Iced tee with 5 packs of the sugar things that you get at restaurants. Mint tastes like, well, sugar with a tiny bit of mint. Little to no buzz at all on either flavor.

Thank you Camel, thank you VERY much. Camel SNUS is the only reason I found out about REAL Swedish snus. I owe Camel my life, if it was not for them I would still be smoking my life away.

As far as this product goes, the Frost made me sick, I did like the Mello though. Coming from smoking 2 packs of Newports a day I did get a bit of a nic buzz from Camel SNUS but that didn't last very long. Before you knew it I was using 2-4 at a time. But then I did my research and found Swedish snus and threw away all my Camel SNUS. Thank you Camel SNUS!!!

I get crap loads of free tin coupons for camel snus. Can't stand the stuff but I did figure out what to do with them.

I go to the nursing home on a regular basis to visit relatives. Most of the old timers in there are dippers now.

-With them being 80ish - 100 they aren't ever going to convert to real snus since all their life they have been using over-sugared dip. So I cash in the free tin coupons and give them out to the old guys that dip there.

The old guys love to see me coming as they know they are getting freebies and love the fact they don't have to spit.

I got a hold of some of the Camel Winterchill, but no Camel Robust yet. The Winterchill was pretty good on everything except flavor.

The tobacco seemed more moist, the nicotine was there, and the portions were bigger. Also, it reminds me of the Lab Series in that there was supposed to only be 15 portions according to the tin, but there was actually 22 portions inside.

But again, I just couldn't get past the taste. It reminded me of the mint-scented paste that they gave you in the first grade. I don't know how anyone could use those without getting sick.

I tried this camel when I was in N.Y, and it was crap.

It tasted like chewing gum, and I could chew it as if it was one. It was the size of a "mocca" snus (tiny and very feminine snus) and tasted like the double mind of a catch eucalyptus without being hardly any nicotine in it.

I loved the Camel Frost snus so much that I did end up ordering a 5 pack online since the price around here in the stores is over $4 per tin. It's strong, sweet, and I have this snus after supper every night. I know it's not supposedly as "safe" as a Swedish snus and is frowned on by ones who love Swedish snus (I also love them), but it has a place in my snus collection. Very minty, very strong, flavor lasts a long time...I love it!

As I dislike this mysterious concoction, I will rarely pop in a mellow. not for the nicotine, or the snus craving but because it tastes good to me.

I dont keep much candy in the house and when I get a sweet tooth I'll grab one from one of the free tins I got.

Again this is purely a candy craving, not a snus craving. I might just buy some candy because who knows..... candy flavored cyanide? nobody knows.

Hi Mike! I have six words for you: Thunder Frosted Extra Strong Portion Snus.

Great Mint flavor BUT once it gets going, you can not only taste the tobacco, but it and the mint join together nicely for a great taste.

As to nicotine, at a bare minimum, this has twice the nicotine of Camel SNUS. But since Camel SNUS only lasts 10 minute to a half hour and is bone-dry, most of the nicotine it has is never absorbed by you.

Thunder Frosted Snus is still going strong after TWO hours!

I've used frost a few times they have a really good mint taste but there is little tobacco flavor if any they really don't give me the nicotine i need. I've fell asleep before with one in before. They work for a little bit though i think if they were bigger with more tobacco taste i think i would use them as my main form of nicotine. Most of the time i just use grizzly straight long cut its American dip tobacco brand.

But what bigmike wrote in the Member Forum I found very interesting:

The reason I found this interesting is that I just discovered Camel Snus frost in my attempt to rid myself of smoke.

I am on my very first tin of frost and two of the pouches ended up "sticking" my gum with tiny stems.

A third pouch had a stem sticking out of it prior to even placing it in my mouth.

I threw that one away. No need to stick myself again, right?

Now in all fairness, I want to say I am NOT merely trying to bash Camel. It has helped me cut way down on my smoking. But thank heavens, and you guys, for SnusCENTRAL and the info. you provide!

I have tried both Camel frost and mellow. Both have a lot of sugar and taste like candy with the exception of mellow, it does start out to have a cotton candy like taste but after a few minutes of use it does start to get a tobacco flavor to it that is actually pretty good and the tobacco taste gets even better after 30 minutes or more.

Frost on the other hand tastes minty and candy like and stays that way, never tasted any tobacco flavor at all from the frost.

Camel mellow is the winner here for time when you get the sweet tooth and want your tobacco flavor also.

CamelSNUS Frost, and Mellow

Frost is too damned sweet, sickly sweet. i'm 99% sure it's a fake sugar they use, because fake sugars always give me a headache and without fail the Frost would do this every time. nicotine hit is small, and the sugary-mint crap overrides most of the tobacco flavor. when you DO get the tobacco flavor, it's not the same as swedish snus at all, in fact it tastes a LOT like standard american dip. i wouldn't be surprised if it's 50% steamed, 50% fire cured.

Mellow - wtf is the flavor here? it's not sweet, it's not bitter, but it's definitely nasty. i don't drink coffee, but i suppose if one did it might taste ok.

The Camel snus is so sweet it's like cotton candy so if someone uses the Camel and likes it, the Swedish, while superior, is just too strong for them.

It's hard to call the Camel snus because it is in no way similar to the Swedish products. I was able to get used to the Triumph mint and it's pretty good but I don't use the Triumph the same days I use the Camel or it's too strong. I have to get the Camel taste totally out of my taste buds for a day.

I only use Camel because I haven't paid for any in at least 6 months and I have 4 tins of it now.

I don't know what's going on but Camel continues to send me 1-3 coupons for free tins of snus every week. As I said this has been going on at least 6 months.

I have officially tried my first-ever Snus product, and yes, it was the Camel brand.

I am not a smoker, nor is my body used to nicotine in any way, so as a result, I am able to receive a slight buzz off of Camel, even as light as people say it is.

My favorite flavor thus far is "Mellow". I tried "Frost" and was by NO MEANS impressed. I won't be finishing that can. I'm already on my second can of "Mellow" though! :)

I was using Camel snus but after reading this, ordered some General snus over the internet.

So explain to me why the Swedish snus manufacturers aren't all over the US market? They give you more snus per can, it tastes a lot better than Camel and especially Marlboro, and it's cheaper? It should be a slam dunk for them.

Got my hands on General white portions here in Chicago. There's differences between Camel SNUS and General:

The most pronounced difference is CS is extremely sweet.

General is slightly salty.

CS has a fake candy like taste.

General tastes like a tobacco, a "real" flavor.

I'm feeling I'm getting about the same amount of nicotene from both products.
