CAMEL Original Portion Snus |
|
Manufacturer: JTI Sweden AB Brand: Camel Submitted by: SnusCENTRAL Staff Where to Purchase Product Description:
This is Swedish-made CAMEL Portion Snus from JTI. Manufactured in Vårgårda, Sweden, CAMEL Portion Snus has a strong, natural tobacco flavor, a hint of bergamot, and delivers great taste. The saltiness is done just right; complementing the snus, not overpowering it. CAMEL Portion Snus is also available as a White Portion. JTI is well represented in Sweden in the premium Swedish snus category with CAMEL Snus. NOTE: For those of you who may have tried Camel SNUS made by R.J. Reynolds in the United States, for your sake, please don't confuse those with JTI's CAMEL Snus made in Sweden. These are two completely different snus lines made by two completely different companies with completely different tastes and manufacturing methods, plus the portion sizes of JTI's CAMEL Snus are much larger than the Reynolds version in the US. If you want "Frost" or "Mellow" flavored snus, buy them from R.J. Reynolds in the United States. If you want real Swedish CAMEL Snus made the Swedish way and to Swedish Government health and safety requirements, buy JTI's CAMEL Snus Portion or White Portion Snus. UPDATE 8/2009: RJ Reynolds took legal action against internet snus stores and CAMEL Snus by JTI is now banned for sale or shipment into the United States. Guess Reynold's American Camel SNUS got jealous... |

Date added: 30.11.-0001 Too bad we cannot get this in the US. While the flavor can be found "in parts" of other snus that is available to the US - the idea that it is banned in the US makes this taste even better.
The rich tobacco flavor is prominent - no heavy bergamot, salt or other flavors - straight tobacco, with a hint of salt. Comes on strong, drip is good and even, and mellows to last for 45 minutes or so. the can is very exotic, the catch lid is a flip top, the glossy exterior makes this "not your father's Mellow or Frost" but such great and real Swedish snus treat, with elegant can design. I can see Grov OP being comparable - but nothing quite like the real Camel Original Portions. Camel Original portion was the first Swedish snus I ever had. Whenever I place an order for snus, I always add a can because the smell and taste always takes me back. I'm glad to be Canadian because I can get snus like this that Americans can't order.
Hmmm. I don't get the strong chocolate notes I taste in Ettan OP with CAMEL OP. To me they taste different but I love them both.
im not sure if its just me or not, but this snus reminds me a lot of ettan op. any one else get that?
I too wasn't sure what to expect from JTI with CAMEL Snus. First I had to just keep repeating "This is not RJRT Camel SNUS" for a couple of minutes before trying my first portion.
JTI's Swedish CAMEL Snus has become one of my favorite regular portion snuses. I've written a lot about it on SnusCENTRAL.org so let me just say if you haven't tried it yet, try it..if you live outside the United States. As you can see above, RJRT has made the import or sales of JTI CAMEL Snus to Americans impossible. JTI's Swedish CAMEL Original Portion Swedish Snus is outstanding and American consumers SHOULD be able to order it over the internet for personal use. It's not like it contains Cuban tobacco or anything illegal. And RJRT? JTI's can is much nicer than yours too! Swedish CAMEL Snus is no 'taste threat' to people who can choke down Mellow and Frost, that's for sure. Maybe that is the problem..... I wasn't expecting much from this snus. I know its made by JTI and has nothing to do with RJ Reynolds terrible attempt at snus. However for some reason I just did not expect it to be that great.
I was surprised however when I popped one in. While there isn't anything really special about this snus but it is still very good. It is simple with a balanced pure tobacco flavor that starts out strong and slowly tapers off to reveal a bergamot or rose oil flavor that is much more subtle than what you would find in Skruf. It tends to go bitter after about 45 minutes but that is still not too bad. I give it a 4 and definitely recommend it to pure tobacco flavor lovers. |
